MECON has a well built residential township, named, Shyamali having infrastructure facilities and atmosphere for modern comfortable living.

Shyamali has following significant amenities within its premises :

• ISPAT Club

With access to a well-equipped gymnasium, Badminton court, Billiards table, Table Tenis Room, Recreation Hall, TV cum reading room and a Restaurant, to take care of the rejuvenation & fitness of our Employees.

• MECON Cricket Stadium

A huge stadium well resourced to facilitate cricket matches up to the level of Ranji Trophy with seating facilities and player’s dressing room.

• Basket Ball Court & Football Ground

A properly maintained Basket Ball court and Football ground within our Colony premises.

• Jawaharlal Nehru Kala Kendra

A well-maintained center for various kinds of training ranging from Painting, Dancing (Classical and Modern), Music (Vocal & Instrumental). The centre provides short term course and diploma certification.

• ISPAT Library

A whole world of knowledge is maintained by our library and offers a great collection of books covering interest areas from children to grown-ups.

• Community Hall

A multi-purpose Hall with garden, kitchen and store used for organizing Programmes, Seminars and for arranging social events.

• Cooperative Society (IKSUB)

A well maintained and self service Store for our employees with household items ranging from grocery to cosmetics. It also has licence for providing Cooking Gas.

• Jawahar Vidya Mandir

It is a well known educational institute affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and is managed by a School Managing Committee.

The school provides education from Nursery to Senior Secondary level. It provides free education for two children of the employees of MECON. The results shown by the meritorious students and the quality education imparted by the learned faculties of the school, has positioned it among the most reputed schools of Jharkhand state.

• ISPAT Hospital

A well-equipped hospital with OPD and 3 storied IPD block, having 64 beds, ICU and all modern medical facilities, is centrally located in our Shyamali Township. Free medical care for the employee and dependent family members is provided in the Hospital. Emergency ward works round the clock manned by efficient doctors. The hospital, which is well known for the standard maintained since inception, provides excellent health care facilities.

• Rose Garden

Rose Garden is in the southern most part of Shyamali Colony. It is the serenity of this place that sets the tone. A beautiful place for meditation, gatherings, meetings providing a relief from the hustle of the city.
